my dd has got white spots all over her tongue, it is painful and itchy, any ideas what it could be?

It could just be her taste buds?

Alternatively it could could be hand foot and mouth - does she have any spots on her hands or feet?

Could be herpes infectionin the mouth - which is basically coldsores inside the mouth. This is often preceded by a very high fever, and sometimes tummy pain as the abdo glands swell. Breath was foul when DDs had this. Has anyone you know had a coldsore recently?

They are both viral and look like k=large flat white ulcers. You can get acyclovir to treat if you can convince your GP. BUT it has to be given early to have any effect. Otherwise fluids are most important (or risk needing IV fluids for dehydration). Avoid fruits with acidic juices. Yoghurts can be quite soothing.

If you search for posts by flamesparrow with teh word herpes in you will find more info as my DDs both had the herpes, her DS had it too...

going for tea but if you want any more info just shout.

not n hands and feet, have checked. Not bad breath, look more like zits than ulcers.

Could it be hand foot and mouth? If it is does she need to be isolated for any time?

Not sure.

I think it is contagious so I would expect there will be some isolation time.
