Is this really just acid reflux?

Bit of background, I did some exercise on Tuesday that I haven't done for a while. This all started on Wednesday. I'm now exhausted by even just going up the stairs, getting lower chest tightening / spasms on taking deep breaths, moving around, particularly bending forwards. I keep going dizzy and lightheaded with a pressure feeling in my head and getting more palpitations than usual. I bent down to pick something up earlier that was only a tiny bit heavy and saw stars and thought I was going to pass out. I am really stressed because of the chest pain but gp has just given me omeprazole again to help with the reflux, which I know I do have because I have a hiatus hernia but it's never been this bad before. It usually just a dull ache across my diaphragm rather than a spasm. When it spasms I can feel it across most of my chest/breast area. When I get a spasm it's almost like my heart beat also makes it hurt for a few seconds, if that makes sense. I'm really scared I have something up with my heart and because I have reflux issues the gp is just assuming it's that. But I do also have anxiety, which could be making all of this worse. Can anyone relate? I feel like I'm not being taken seriously by the gp because of my anxiety and reflux history :(

I don’t think anyone here will be able to reassure you if the GP couldn’t. The only way to know for sure would be to go to A&E really. I would advise you take a book, drink, snacks, any medication and a phone charger if you do go, we were 8 hours before DH was seen a couple of weeks ago & that was midweek.
The chest pains could be anxiety, reflux or (hopefully not) something more serious, but the only way to know would be to go to A&E.
I hope it turns out to be nothing major Flowers

Hi OP

I have the exact same symptoms. I could have written your post. More anti reflux drugs from my GP today. How are you feeling? Did you go back to your GP?

I visited today and they’ve referred me (I have private health care) to a cardiologist although is 99% certain it’s GERD/reflux. Also waiting on an appt to check my gallbladder.

I am 35, normal BMI, slim, fit with a good diet. It’s destroying my day to day life. Thinking of you.

@Fashion83 I have more meds to take too. They don't think there's anything sinister going on as I've had a 24hr ecg a few months back and also had an endoscopy 2 years ago which showed the hiatus hernia and not much else so they are pretty confident it is a very bad reflux flare. No one has mentioned my gallbladder but if things don't improve soon I might mention it to them. I've been prescribed rabeprozole as it's lactose free but the chemist don't have it in stock yet.
It's crap isn't it! Hope you get to the bottom of it.

Good luck and I hope you feel a lot better soon. I ended up in A&E tonight with chest pain. ECG done and blood work carried out. All clear. 100% not my heart but disappointingly he didn’t think my gallbladder either and rather bad reflux and muscle spasms. I have my private referral to a gastro consultant in 3 weeks time and cannot wait (on all the pain meds!) to find out if he’ll do more testing on my gut. It’s debilitating.

@Fashion83 yeah, that sounds very similar to what I'm experiencing. The gp is testing me for h pylori but I'm pretty sure it's not that as I've been tested for it before. It's the chest spasms that are really bothering me, they calmed down for a few days but seem to be back this morning.
