Hi all . Ive been feeling unwell for a few months now. Headaches, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness which I put it down to a lingering virus. Ive visited my mum today who has a BP monitor. I’ve checked my BP and it’s 137/93 - can anyone tell me what this means please? I am looking it up in google but us confused - can anyone tell me what this means? Tia

Did you just do the one reading? It’s a good idea to keep the cuff on and take 3 reading over the course of a few minutes. Often the first reading will be a little high. Maybe try that and see what results you get.

You've posted this on more than one thread? The answers on the other thread, apart from the one stating you are hypertensive, were correct.

I think the upshot is, if you think you have a health problem contact a doctor, not randoms on the internet.

It's slightly high but often the first reading is, you need to sit and relax quietly and take at least three readings. DH takes each week so is well used to it and still generally gets a higher first reading. I wouldn't have thought the reading you took would have caused those symptoms as it is not that high. DH who is medicated for high blood pressure always hopes to get below 130/90. Normal is around 120/80 depending on your age.

Thanks goforit. I do feel generally unwell so will make an appointment with the doctor I think. Thanks so much for your kind response
