Painful hips

Imfedup1989 · 01/03/2024 10:56

I have such painful hips (the outside)been getting worse for weeks.
Taking painkillers, resting walking, it doesn't really hurt to much while resting.
It also feels like they don't want to work properly, I can feel them (iyswim).
I'm at a point where I'm using a golfing umbrella to help me walk now.
Just wonder if anyone had any experience of this, would could bring this on?
What other things I could do to help I'm 42 if that matters.
I am going to book to see a GP just asking for the meantime.

Hip bursitis?

lemonandlime99 · 02/03/2024 22:30

@Imfedup1989 have you asked your GP for an ultrasound or an x ray on your hips?

MyGirlDaisy · 02/03/2024 22:41

Did it come on suddenly? It might be Hip TFL - worth a google! Definitely worth consulting gp. Physio didn’t help me, have had x ray and mri and currently awaiting a steroid jab.

I haven't got an appointment yet, I have to wait for a phone call from the GP to then be allowed to see the GP.
There's a lot of noise and clicking coming from that area so from what I have looked up at it seems more wear and tear.
But honestly it can be so painful and stiff, I feel like I'm going through mud sometimes.

42 is very young for general wear and tear of hips. Is it the same on both sides?

Shopgirl1 · 03/03/2024 21:23

Have you any issues with your back?

bananasstink · 04/03/2024 13:26

Do you have any other flexible joints? My hips do this. I almost have to hold them to stop them hurting. I have hyper mobility

Imfedup1989 · 04/03/2024 17:49

It's the same in both sides, no back pain and no hyper mobility.
