Quick advice needed before GP opens today!

I am not sure whether to take my DD (17 mos) to GPs to be checked. She has a terrible cough, which has been keeping her awake at night a bit and last night made her very sick. But she has no fever, is drinking and eating and playing quite happily. It sounds terrible though and is making her gag. Can't decide whether to drag her to the GP this morning as she didn't sleep too well last night and was in bed late as we were travelling home from inlaws, so think maybe she needs the sleep more. Any advice welcome!!

my two are full of a cough as well my son has had ti for about a month , it started to get better but now it has started again and my daughter started last week . I am going to leave mine as it doesnt sound as though it is on there chest and that is the only time my doctor will treat a cough

This one does sound like its on her chest. But doesn't seem infected as she has no fever, so not sure what they could do really, its terrible to hear them coughing isn't it?

take her, they're always happy to see young children even if its just to tell you to ride it out

better safe than sorry

Well..typically she was very lively and cheery in GP surgery! Her chest is clear but her glands are still swollen in her neck, GP thinks she is over worst but just left with a residual cough. We are just to take her back if she gets worse. But glad I went anyway, thanks for the advice

am glad you went, I learnt the hard way thinking it was a cough/chest infection and ended up in hosp with dd2 for a week with bronchilitis - always worth getting checked

hope she's 100% soon

Thats what I was worried about! I always wait too long to take her..last time I took her she was also on the mend!!! Will just enjoy the extra naptime now I know she is OK
