Feels like I’m falling apart, worrying over nothing?

I feel like something awful is wrong, I don’t usually suffer from health anxiety but the past weeks have been awful.

I was told I need urgent surgery for gynae issues, was told there’s a chance it could be cancer (unable to take biopsy). I am having a private scan today in hope to get some answers but I’ve been in awful pain for the past 2 weeks, pelvic pain and then pain n my right side just under my rib, then I woke at 3 am with pain on my left side, felt sick and now have diarrhoea (but not extreme). I’m led on the sofa feeling like something serious is wrong with me. The pain in my left side is pretty bad and o feel pretty unwell.

I don’t know what to do. Do I go to the scan and then call my GP when I get back to be checked over? The scan is private and I can’t really cancel but it’s an hours drive away and I have no one else to drive me.

I am home alone with dd who has disabilities so I can’t go to A&E.

Who told you that you needed urgent surgery and that it might be cancer?

Has your gp seen you and put you on 2w pathway for investigation? If not, book an appointment with gp and go from there. Take your scans with you and let them investigate.
There are many causes of pain in those areas, from gall bladder issues or gall stones to an ovarian cyst etc. Try not to worry until you have some actual evidence, which I know is hard.

I'm in your boat OP. Nothing to offer other than solidarity. I've had really severe pelvic pain for the last three weeks. Finally got a scan for next week. Convinced it's the worst. Sending hugs. It's the not knowing...

Go to the scan

Then book appt with GP - make notes of your key symptoms first

Please try not to worry, there are so many things that could cause this

How are you OP?

Thank you for your messages, I managed to get back to bed and have a hours sleep before going to my scan. My scan proved that my consultant at the hospital was wrong, my uterus measured at normal size. So I have been booked in for big surgery that could have been done by keyhole/vaginally, I do still need the hysterectomy, I have suspected Adenomyosis and the lining of my uterus doesn’t look as it should but very unlikely to be cancer. I have contacted PALs for advice, I have a hard copy of the scan results which I will take to my appointment on Monday. Hopefully the surgery can be changed to keyhole and my recovery time will be much shorter. I’m hoping the other stomach issues are just stress related and now they will settle down, if not I will get it checked out later in the week. There’s still a small risk it’s cancer but the risk is pretty low. I’m glad I paid for a scan and will be questioning how the consultant made such a big mistake and didn’t send me for a scan to check it out.

I hope your scan goes well, it’s surprising how much they can see from a scan now, I got told a lot more than I expected too.
