Hip Pain

Hi

So as the title suggests please can I get others experience of ongoing hip and kidney pain?

I'm hoping by asking this it will stop me from convincing myself I am dying! Though that sounds OTT my head is unfortunatley spiralling into worry as a cause can't be found.

I'm a single parent (dad not involved but on BC) to an small child with complex needs, so the fear of being unwell myself seems to peak when I have issues that persist.

I'll try to keep the background short, but I cant seem to pinpoint when exactly the pain started but know it was there from early January. I don't recall feeling much discomfort before Christmas but I cant remember. I also do not recalled having any injury. I'm 37, health generally OK, though I've been feeling extremely fatigued for around the last 18 months to 2 years.

I've noticed as I creep up in age my periods have become more heavy, painful and long, however they have always been apart every 4 weeks like clockwork. In January I experienced some irregular bleeding mid way between cycles. No chance of me being pregnant nor any STIs but these have been checked to eliminate them as a cause. I was checked at urgent care by request of my employer and was told due to my age it could be hormonal. I was also diagnosed with a water infection and prescribed antibiotics. I must have been in pain with my left side at this point as it was recommended I follow up with my Doctor which I did who has referred me for all sorts of scans and tests.
Bloods all fine, urine samples now all fine, a specific test have been done (the C one for ovarian cancer is it?) which was normal, no one seems to know what is going on but I am in so much pain. It's in my left hip bone area but my kidney area is extremely tender and uncomfortable. It feels severally bruised. Pain can range from stabbing, throbbing, burning, dull, itchy, sore. It bloody hurts and nothing is helping or relieving it.

I've come on to here as tonight it is particularly bad, feel very nauseous and I guess the unknown frightens me.

I have an xray on Tuesday, and been referred for a kidney scan and ultrasound including an internal which I'm waiting for. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

Thanks for reading

I have an xray on Tuesday,

I'm hoping today went well and you have some sort of answer.

HereWeGo22 · 27/02/2024 21:54

Hi @Pixiedust1234

Thank you. Was abit strange. Was on the bed no more than 30 seconds and then told to wait 3 weeks for the report. I also have my ultrasound next week so things are moving in the right direction.
I returned to the doctors due to the pain, no more antibiotics were given only increased my amitriptyline and added co-codamol. Can't help but feel it's just masking a problem. It's hurt me to walk today

Can you phone the NHS call line for a second opinion? If you are struggling to walk then it's becoming more urgent in my view. I'm sorry you are feeling worse Flowers

Hello. So I had my ultrasound and within 24 hours I was called to be told a F2F appointment had been booked for Tuesday. I went on my app and could see the results for the abdominal ultrasound. A small lesion had been found in my kidney. Somehow I'm managed to stay positive until this evening telling myself it was a stone or something. I log on again and now the transvaginal results are available. With notes must be seen within one week. These were received the day after my ultrasounds but werent uploaded when i first checked. It's made me panic. It doesn't help that I can't make out the results but it's sent me into a spiral. Fluid and tissue can be seen within the endometrial cavity and a small lesion lesion cannot be excluded. One ovary is showing well defined collapsing cortus lutuem. Thickened endometrium. Need further assessments.

I'm hoping it's nothing serious but I am now frightened. As much as I'd have been shocked for them to say nothing was seen, when you read that a few things have been noted on the abdominal and transvaginal scans it's really scared me.

Can anyone make me feel abit better?

Anyone? 🙏🏻

I'm not a doctor or radiologist so can't interpret your results but collapsing corpus luteum is just explaining where you are in your cycle. The extra tissue could be something simple like a polyp or fibroid. I always have extra fluid on my gynae scans, it's in the pouch of Douglas or something like that for me and they said it was normal. So just saying that the words you're reading might sound scary but doesn't mean that it is.

My Mum actually had something similar recently and they found a cyst on her kidney. Like you she read her notes and panicked. Especially when the GP practice called to tell her to make an urgent appointment to discuss scan results. Turns out it is nothing to worry about, it's just a simple cyst and they're just going to keep an eye on it.

If there is anything worrying going on, and remember there isn't necessarily anything to worry about, it is good that they have identified it. They have to move quickly when they don't know exactly what something is but it doesn't mean it is anything bad. And even if it is something worrying, they are highly likely to be able to treat it.

I know how hard it is to wait for results and appointments, I've had a lot of experience! The best thing you can so is to find something to distract yourself with. And every time you get a negative "what if" thought, counter it with a positive "what if" thought. I hope that time goes quickly for you and that the appointment on Tuesday will make everything clear.

DesteB · 10/03/2024 22:55

Could it be Bursitis.

HereWeGo22 · 10/03/2024 23:44

Thank you. I wish I hadn't of checked as I wasn't expecting anything to be there. I should have just waited for Tuesday. I'm in quite alot of pain this weekend which hasn't helped either!
Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Unfortunately my mind springs to to the worst quickly and I wish it didn't. I have a young child (only parent) who has quite complex needs so anything like this fills me with fear of what ifs

I've been referred on the 2WP due to the unknown lump and abnormal bleeding in my uterus. I'm so scared

Saladpops · 13/03/2024 08:32

It's scary but remember it could still be nothing to worry about. If it is something they've found it and you can start treatment. I know that doesn't help much when you're waiting for appointments and results but hang in there. Think about what you can do to distract you and calm you down. Walks, yoga, running, movies, crafts etc Even watching silly cat videos on YouTube can help. I know how hard it is I've been there many times.

HereWeGo22 · 13/03/2024 18:22

Thank you @Saladpops I've not been too bad but I'd be lying if the hip pain I am in isn't worrying me. It seems to get really awful on the week lead up to my period and it's really really awful at the moment. I suppose when I feel that it ignites that fear of what if.

I just wish I could get it all over with now and just know what is happening. I am hoping it's absolutely nothing but I'll fall apart if i am told something bad. The waiting is awful and I've been informed the next procedures are invasive and uncomfortable which I'm not looking forward to but I'm just hoping I won't have to wait too long. I want it over with.

I've been on the 2WP before for breast lumps but they've always been quickly ruled out at the appointment and drained if they've become too large. I think the unknown side of this has really frightened me

Don't know if you've had your results yet but I get really bad left sided hip pain two weeks before my period. I googled it and apparently it is a thing.

HereWeGo22 · 16/03/2024 20:57

I had my hip xray nearly 3 weeks ago now and I was told on Friday results are taking around 8 weeks.

I'm now waiting on the next steps following my ultrasound. I've been ok but anxiety is kicking my arse this weekend.

Thanks @Rowgtfc72 that is reassuring as these last 3 days its been bloody awful! I should be due on on Tuesday and I'm pretty sure for a long time it gets so much worse on the build up to coming on but my mind seems all over the place at the moment.

Another two things this weekend, I an weeing anything between every 20 to 50 minutes. It's drove me mad! And I have horrific wind. The bloating is really uncomfortable to say the least. Sometimes it feels like a swirling burning sensation. It could all very well be because I am due on but maybe because of this health scare I am scaring myself into thinking worse.

I also need to stay off google. I've even questioned if I am perimenopausal but my Doctor laughed at this idea a few weeks back when I joked trying to lighten my concerns. She said I was too young

I can’t add anything to the thread but I don’t want you thinking that you are alone out there.

Hand hold from afar

Rowgtfc72 · 16/03/2024 21:22

I am perimenopausel but I've had the hip pain for years.
I do have osteoarthritis in my right hip but the pain in my left hip is entirely different.
Hope you get some answers soon x

HereWeGo22 · 16/03/2024 21:27

Osteoarthritis runs in the family. How was you diagnosed?

Being a woman is rubbish at times! If I could now I'd just choose for it all to be removed. I understand this is very extreme but the older I've got the more painful things have got. It's affecting how I walk now and it was before Christmas that I haven't been in pain. I'm miserable and because things have been found of concern I feel its just going to be worrying times ahead

TabithaTwitchel · 16/03/2024 21:34

Do your symptoms fit endometriosis?

HereWeGo22 · 17/03/2024 11:16

@TabithaTwitchel I have wondered but I've been quite surprised that this hasn't really been mentioned

Any update OP? How are you?

HereWeGo22 · 01/07/2024 05:54

Still in the same position. And still awaiting being seen. The 2WP was declined. Apparently due to my age I didn't need to be seen seen so quickly, I'm late 30s!!!! I'm livid about that as I'm on a number of medications now for the pain and bleeding. I'm still very uncomfortable. The referral was pushed again, but I've heard nothing

OP posts:
irishsea123 · 02/07/2024 00:10

Ah bless you. I am in similar pain right now and terrified.

HereWeGo22 · 02/07/2024 05:49

I'm so sorry to hear this. Have you been able to have any tests done?
