Why do they ask this?

I'm just watching a news programme about a four month old girl who needs a liver transplant.

The interviewer asked both parents, separately, 'How do you feel?'

How do they think they are feeling when their baby is desperately ill? What's the point in such a stupid question?

To get them to break their hearts on tv to generate a response maybe?
I don’t know, it seems heartless doesn’t it?

I don't know why we have programmes like this, interviewing people at their most vulnerable seems so intrusive.
