Blepharoplasty or Nasty?

(New to this and hope I’m posting in the right place, so…)

Hello Vipers, may I ask a question about blepharoplasty? Me: 59, female, had breast cancer and Graves Disease (autoimmune overactive thyroid) back in 2018. In remission from both but my eyes have been left baggy by the thyroid eye disease, and one noticeably more than the other. 🤪 Now I’ve suddenly been offered an NHS blepharoplasty in two weeks’ time - eek! So now I’m swithering:

On the one hand, I’m fed up of looking knackered and asymmetrical, especially as it reminds me of an 'annus horribilis' (my DDad died the day before I got my BC diagnosis, so it was a bit of a rotten time all round)…

On the other, I have no idea how to research my surgeon. She’s experienced and specialist in Graves disease and does oculoplastics for the NHS and privately too; but I don’t know how to find reviews and/or images of her work.

Also, having not seen her for 4 years, I’m expected to just rock up, have a chat and undergo the procedure there and then - but surely I’d need time to think about such a big decision? I don’t even know if she’d be doing upper and lower, just that it’s under local. If I decided against it, I’d have wasted an NHS surgery slot, and that’s too much pressure...

I also wonder if I’m just a vain old buzzard who should accept that a 59 year old is going to look a bit knackered and I should just appreciate my life as a cancer survivor…

So: how do you research a surgeon? Have you had a blepharo and would you recommend it? And… please hold my clammy hand! 😬

@Compash found your post while researching blepharoplasty and just wondered if you'd had the procedure and how it went?
