Virus or something else?

My dh has been ill since Monday.
Not particularly snotty or coughy and I would say it's not flu.

He is absolutely exhausted. He has been getting up here and there but only managing an hour or so before heading back to bed. He goes to bed fully clothed and hasn't had a shower since Sunday 🤢 and is still in the same clothes.
He doesn't look well, rather grey looking.
When asked to describe, he says he has a mushy head and chest pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

I have encouraged him to go to the GP but he is reluctant.
He has a rather unhealthy lifestyle, both smokes and drinks (in my opinion) too much.

Is there such a virus doing the rounds?
I am worried he may be having heart problems.

I took have been in the same clothes since Sunday . Finding it hard to stay awake when I am usually an insomniac.

DH and I both have COVID. We have other symptoms but now difficult to tell which are due to the illness and which are side effects of the antiviral treatment medication that we were issued with.

My worry was well founded.
He ended up in a&e and was diagnosed with pneumonia, an enlarged heart and fluid round his heart. His CRP was 209, blood pressure 100/60. He was given a 5 day course of antibiotics. He was asked to come back in 2 days. He had bloods taken again, CRP now 163, blood pressure 106/65. Saw a nurse practitioner who said they don't go on numbers they go on how you feel/look and sent him on his way.

Not feeling any better a week on, he had an emergency GP appointment yesterday who sent him straight to a&e telling him he wasn't a well man.
We live on the border, the GP told him to go to the hospital over the border and to swerve the one we were in last week.
The triage nurse was particularly shitty, despite us saying the GP had sent us there she seemed aggrieved that we hadn't gone to the original hospital. His BP which was lower than last week, she said was okay - despite him looking dreadful, she classed him as a CAT 1, so we were in for a long wait.
He had bloods and an ECG before seeing the doctor.
He has sepsis, still has pneumonia and also a suspected heart infection, further tests are needed. I had to leave him as we have livestock that needed tending to. Last I heard he was hooked up to an antibiotic drip in a corridor whilst waiting to be admitted.

I will be contacting PALS at the original hospital once he is on the mend as I feel their treatment of him wasn't great.

As soon as I saw your first post I thought sepsis. I hope now he's getting appropriate treatment he's in the mend, that sounds terrifying.

How terrible! I would complain about the shitty attitude at the second hospital too! And the corridor!
