Weird Aroma

I've developed this strange aroma/breath smell that I struggle to describe. It's a mixture of a sweet/sour, chemical smell that sometimes veers on a bit smoky. I can smell it with my mouth closed, meaning it took a while to realise it was coming from my throat. I thought it was something odd in my house because it wasn't consistently there ad seemed worse in the evening.

It first appeared late last year and persisted for a few weeks, then went away. Since the start of this week, it's back and driving me mad.

Has anybody else experienced similar?

Could it be ketones? Are you on a diet?

I have a smell too - like petrol and smoke. Are you sure it's coming from your throat and not a phantom brain smell? I got somebody to give my mouth a good sniff and they say no smell from there.

I think viruses can fuck up our sinuses for a while after. I always seem to get it after illness.

It's irritating isn't it

It’s definitely not in my head as I asked my DH and he said he could smell something “strong but weird”.

I thought ketones but I had bread and potato yesterday and toast today - do surely it would have subsided if so?

This is interesting- I have had a smell stuck in my nose since Covid, it's somewhere between a dusty old house, damp straw and cooked broccoli and drives me mad

Is it your sinuses ? I can occasionally smell mine, usually means I am coming down with some illness. I initially thought it was something in the house too.
