Can I request my X-ray?

Dec 23 = left hip pain, feels “boney” but sent to physio. Jan 23 = physio has made it worse, sent for X-ray

During X-ray I asked can they see anything on my left hip? Surprisingly the guy calls me round to view my X-ray on the monitor (WHY DID I NOT TAKE A SCEEENSHOT AT THIS POINT??!!) He says that’s bone on bone pointing to my left hip image & I can see it looks very different to my right hip - I feel relieved that it explains the pain

However when the physio received the X-ray report it came back stating no issues?? Dr confirms this - it turns out no one at my surgery can “see” my X-ray they only have a report that says no issue. Dr has explained this report will have been written by someone senior to the guy who did my X-ray & was so helpful to me.

So I am nowhere near a diagnosis almost 3 months later - is it normal for a 44 year old hip to be bone on bone in places - maybe that is standard?? It HURTS when I’m active.

Do I have a right to request my own X-ray image directly from the X-ray dept and can I request a second opinion? I am kicking myself for not taking that screenshot is was SO visibly obvious

Yes you can request, if any issues make a SAR. Getting someone to check/give a second opinion might be more useful than the image alone so start of contracting x easy department and saying you get what you were told verbally and on report don't match.

Yes, call your surgery tomorrow - they will, if not come back here but should be no problem

Contact access to health records where the x-ray was taken and ask for a copy of the xray and the report
