Glycerin Suppositories

Hi
I'm on oral chemo and of the side effect, is that it slows the digestive system right down.

I'm trying to get around this, by drinking loads of water, eating kiwi and melon and am now on the movicol.

Since Monday ( sorry TMI) there's a feeling of some stool " stuck " in the rectal area. I think also I've got a haemorrhoid now, which is sore.

Im desperate to shift what is in there, so bought some glycerin suppositories. Has any one use them with any success? Any tips?

Thanks

Yep... lie on your left side, with a coffee preferably, to hand. Ideally 20 mins or so after breakfast. Moisten the suppository and poke it in (disposable glove, or food bag if you haven't got a glove) towards your back. Lie there sipping hot drink. It usually works in about 20 mins, sometimes much quicker. I sometimes roll onto my right side after ten mins. I find a hot coffee helps stimulate the bowel.
I have no bowel function and have been on prescribed glycerine supps for many years !
It won't damage your piles.
Good luck with the chemo xxx

I had to use one yesterday. I too have piles. Make sure you wet the end as they are super squishy. It can take u to an hour to work, but they are really good
