Shoulder surgery - recovery time?

I'm having shoulder and elbow surgery next week to try to alleviate pain/restricted movement in my shoulder and nerve pain in my elbow. The shoulder surgery will be an acromioplasty (basically, cutting out a bony spur that's causing an impingement, releasing the ligament and exciting some bursary tissue).

Has anyone had this type of shoulder op and has any words of encouragement? I'm really nervous about the long recovery and not being able to drive - well, do anything really as the side I'm having the op is my dominant hand.

If you've had similar surgery what was you recovery like? Any tips for coping in the short term? Don't even know how I'll get dressed, wash hair, etc - fortunately I have a partner who will help!

Thank you!

I had an open acromioplasty I couldn’t drive for 3 months. Pain was pretty bad when I got home after the op.
Mostly other half showered my bottom half and I used a flannel on top half of body to start.
I remember not being able to lie down for a few days and had pillows to sleep upright.
Had physio a few months in. Mostly gentle stretching exercises.
Positives. I could now lift up my arm to brush my hair, get a good nights sleep without waking up in pain with a sore shoulder. Scar is quite long but mine was done years ago so I know some are done with little cuts now.
