Serum Ferritin levels

I am feeling really tired and had blood test which showing ferritin serum level 9ug/L .Symptoms include weakness in legs, random bruising, hair fall, headaches, hyperpigmentation on face, tiredness . Prescribed three months tablets. Only thing i noticed periods with more clots but manageable. i put it down to pre menopausal symptoms. I am 36.
my iron levels went low few times in the past .Do i need to request more tests? awaiting to see GP re : results

You need more tests, ideally your ferritin should be over 50, 9 is very low. Once your 3 month iron tablet supply is over, take iron tablets once a day or every other day to maintain iron stocks. There's no point taking it more frequently as you can't absorb it so it just makes you constipated with black poo.
Take vitamin c at the same time to help iron absorption.
