Tennis elbow

Jaguar99 · 19/02/2024 13:27

Ive only been suffering for about a fortnight & getting worse by the day, Im doing specific exercises and wearing a compression sleeve but not making much difference.
The aching is 24/7 & keeping me awake at night!
Now developing arm & shoulder pain because Im compensating.

Unfortunately not really possible to rest due to the nature of my job & having a toddler! And gripping is a large part of my job.

Cant take NSAIDs due to other health conditions

NHS says can last 6 months to 2 years 🫠

How long did you suffer? Any tips?
I feel very dramatic but its massively affecting me even after only 2 weeks!

I was in a lot of pain with it and went to the GP and had a steroid injection in it. Very painful, but worth it for the relief.

How long had your symptoms been going on for @LadyDanburysHat before they did that?

Has your pain stayed resolved since?

They can last for longer as I had it on my main hand/arm - resting your elbow is diffuclt if you work like i did but i was carful and I think I was givne some excericises - it comes and years years after the intial even after some strenuous work but not to bad just a niggle and often goes away by the next day

I had experienced pain for a couple of months before I went to the GP, I stupidly left it too long to go and see them.

Thanks all, I generally think Ive got a fairly decent pain threshold but because this is my dominant hand it’s affecting everything!

Im a dentist so I do lots of repetitive movements and gripping all day, so I cant really modify/stop this unfortunately!

Im struggling lifting anything with that arm & also my whole arm just doesnt feel right …. Is this normal for tennis elbow?

I've had this and my arm did feel different. I couldn't lift it above l certain point and it was quite painful.
I did have some physio and laser therapy but not sure that made much difference, in the end l felt it was just a question of time that healed it.
Due to your work l can see it would be hard for you to rest it but the advice is usually to stop the repetitive movements to speed recovery.
