Small skin coloured bump

Please be gentle with me. This week someone in my extended family has died, and I have also learned about a very tragic death of a formal colleague, so my head is all over the place.
On my face I have a small skin coloured spot. It is a like a pimple, but not red or sore. It has been there for at least five years without any change. It's about 2 to 3mm round.
I suddenly got the idea in my head that I should be worried about it, that it is a basal cell carcinoma and I should show my GP. But I wonder if I'm being irrational due to my fragile state of mind.
It is small and hasn't changed at all in more that 5 years. Basal cell carcinomas grow, even if it's very slowly, I would have noticed a change by now.
Please can you put my mind at rest? I am interested in hearing from people who has some experience/knowledge in the area, please.

Hi, if it’s been there that long and not changed then I wouldn’t worry at all, probably everything you’re going through causing anxiety like you said. There are services online where if you send a photo of moles etc they assess them, not sure how accurate they are though.

Sounds a bit like seborrhoeic keratosis which is benign. I think its very common to suddenly question cancer when you've been affected by it

It would’ve changed in that time. My DF had a BCC and it itches and bled over a couple of years then started to pucker before he got it looked at despite being nagged. It was still removed easily.

Thank you all for responding, with such kindness. I really appreciate it, and you have put my mind at rest.

Even if it is a bcc that is easily removed and only spreads locally so is not a systemic cancer like melanoma. See a gp for a referral to dermatology to put your mind to rest.

I would still get it looked at. I had a small flesh coloured "mole" on my face for years not growing but I started to catch it with sunglasses on holiday and made it a bit sore. I went to a skin surgery clinic as they specialise in this sort of thing. They said it was a mole and I booked in to have it removed by laser.

You can see where this is going, when they started to remove it they realised that the structure of the mole changed the further into the skin they went and they shocked me by telling me either it was pure coincidence that a mole grew and a BCC grew underneath or the BCC was presenting as a mole and they misdiagnosed it. This is very similar to what mine looked like and I had mine at least 7 years, the pic is from a BCC site on how to spot one.

There is a teeny scar from where they removed it which you can only see when I get a slight tan in summer. I chose a private clinic because I was concerned they would be removing something from my face so I chose a cosmetic surgeon.
