Haemorrhoids…A Question On Swelling. PLEASE HELP!!!

So I think I have a haemorrhoid but something is different to what I’ve experienced before and I can’t find the answers through Google…

Context - have had 1-2 fissures at most given times for 20 years. For me, it’s not a big deal pain-wise and I’m used to the bleeding. I have had one turn into a fistula, which was laid open a couple of years ago and healed great. I have also had the odd small (presumably classed as external) haemorrhoid that has gone with little intervention. So I know a bit about dealing with bum stuff.

But since the beginning of the year something new is going on…I basically have what I thought was an external pile but it goes up and down all day in terms of swelling - it literally swells up in 60 seconds sometimes. And it’s quite ‘puffy’ rather than firm when it’s bigger.

Does it look like a pile? I don’t know. I thought so but maybe it’s something else because the internet says they don’t go up and down like that…I’ve been using scheriproct suppositories and nothing has changed so maybe it’s something else.

Anyway, can anyone relate to this? And if so, was it a haemorrhoid or something else?

NB. I know I need to see a doctor and I will as soon as I can but I’m a bit worried it’s another fistula (just because of the surgery downtime) but it doesn’t look like the same as my last fistula did.

So in the 19 minutes since I wrote that, it’s gone from been fully swollen up to completely flattened (although it looks like a deflated ‘thing’ rather than normal skin around the anus). 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yes, l have similar. It's actually a skin tag left over from a prolapsed pile but apparently still has a blood supply. Like yours mine swells somtimes, and occasionally bleeds, then other times it's flatter. Really annoying but have never been brave enough to have it removed.

@Seaoftroubles Interesting! And really fucking annoying, no?! When it swells up it’s super uncomfortable but then when it flattens, it’s a non-event!

Thanks for replying. 🙂

Yes very! When mine swells its usually due to being constipated and l have caused it by straining (which is hard not to do!) Yours could be a pile as sounds like it has a blood supply.

@Seaoftroubles Apparently piles can’t/dont balloon and flatten within seconds though. I’ll make an appointment to get it looked at. 😬

@MoisturiseYourMoose As mine is a skin tag l suppose it behaves differently. I do hope you get an explanation for yours and a solution.

@Seaoftroubles Thanks! I’ve got an appointment with a colorectal specialist on Thursday so we’ll see what he says. 🙂
