Hello everyone.
I had done a breast ultrasound back in December nothing suspicious showed up but OB still wants a mammogram idk why if nothing showed up on ultrasound. I have no lumps or anything. The reason I had done an ultrasound was because when I was 2 months PP I felt my breast warm. Now my son is almost 1 and sometimes I still feel it. I get paranoid that something is wrong. Has anyone experienced this?? What did it turned out to be?? I’m only 31 BTW

Mammograms are routinely done for breast referrals. Obviously I can’t comment on your specific condition, but I wouldn’t panic over the implications of the mammogram itself.

Ultrasound is sound waves, mammogram is x rays. Mammogram is the gold standard for breast cancer detection. It can show early changes in breast tissue which an ultrasound would miss. So they obviously want to be 100% sure.

Try and be pleased they are looking after you so well rather than stressing x

Always good to be checked out.

It’s most likely at 2 months Post Partum that it was hormonal due to breastfeeding (even if you weren’t feeding the tissue would have changed ready, were you feeding?)

They use ultrasound when pregnant/breastfeeding (or post partum because even if you weren’t feeding the breast tissue would have changed).
This is because mammograms aren’t so great at looking at very dense changeable breast tissue in this period. Ultrasound is better. The mammogram is probably just because you are further out from that period.

I have an ultrasound rather than mammogram booked because I’m breastfeeding.

Please please don’t worry at this point. (Easier said than done I know) Breast cancer is the less likely diagnosis and even less likely if you are young and even if that did happen it is very treatable in the majority of cases.

I’d also be guessing OB wants to mammogram because you are now 1 yr PP and breast tissue would have begun to settle if not BF, they are picking up that you are still concerned and want to put your mind at rest. And no one takes risks with boobies.

I didn't breast feed I only pumped for a week or 2. But as soon as baby turned 2 months I started feeling the warm on breast. did the ultrasound back in December and nothing suspicious showed up.
