Full body CT

Hi,

If I had a full body CT with contrast, would that pick up any spinal tumours even though I was lying down on my back?

Might be a silly question but I have quite bad health anxiety and can't seem to get a straight answer on Google.

Hi,

Yes it would have picked up anything spinal. Even spinal specific scans are often done laying on your back.

The scanner takes images by aiming a narrow beam and quickly rotating it. It creates "slices" of image which will see everything, including your spine.

I think it covers all the way round. However do you clinically need one or is it just to satisfy your anxiety's need for reassurance(which it probably won't)?

I did need one when I had it done yes, as I had suspected lymphoma. All was fine (this was a few months ago) but I am having an issue with my spine and just feeling anxious
