Anyone had this cold/flu for nearly 2 weeks?

I'm 2 weeks in tomorrow and although not being sick anymore I'm still totally unwell.
Normally these things last a week not 2!

Anyone else in the same boat?

Yes, although finally after 15 days I actually feel better. I still cough occasionally but I'm so much better than I was.

Champagnebar · 13/02/2024 16:34

Yes - both me and DH
Fed up of it now

hulahoopqueen · 13/02/2024 17:12

Yep. It's now turned into a chest infection. I've forgotten what it feels like to feel "well".

Meadowy · 13/02/2024 17:12

Yes- 2 and half weeks!

alwaysonadiet1 · 13/02/2024 17:37

Only a week so far but it's been the worst cold and cough I ever remember having. Hideous! Get well soon everyone!

DrCoconut · 13/02/2024 17:49

DS has been hospitalized by it. It's horrible. He's home now but still not 100%. He's on week 3.

RainbowConnection1 · 13/02/2024 18:45

Yes but for me and DH it was Covid. Much worse this time round than the first!

ThirdStorm · 14/02/2024 15:21

@RainbowConnection1 A few people have said its a new strain of Covid which isn't showing on tests. No idea if true. My joints achieved like they did with Covid so it was my first thought but I was negative. All in all though previous bouts of Covid were much worse than this. This just went on too long and I got fed up!

urrrgh46 · 14/02/2024 15:51

Our household has it (10 people) ...except for me - I've had a flu & Covid jab and eldest (dd) who very very rarely gets flu...others in the household have had flu a few times and each time she's not got it. 3yr old was in urgent care with it last week (slight dehydration and low blood sugar from not eating or drinking enough). She's now on day 12 still very snotty and has a cough. I did test for Covid but that was negative. Symptoms have been very sore throat, temperature, tiredness, cough, very very snotty nose with congestion, feeling ill in general.

urrrgh46 · 14/02/2024 15:54

Also forgot that 3yr old has a viral rash - which I read online can sometimes be a symptom of a type b flu strain but who knows?! 🤷

FlibbedyFlobbedyFloo · 14/02/2024 15:57

Yes, 2+ weeks for me. By some lucky coincidence I had an appointment with my pulmunologist yesterday and she has whacked me on antibiotics and cortisone

incognitothismorning · 14/02/2024 16:00

Do you mean flu? Or do you mean a cold? Flu can take sixth months to clear up, quite easily. A cold should not take more than a week or too. Your title is very unclear, as a cold is a very minor illness, and flu is a very serious one. They are not something you can slash together

ToWonderWhyIBother · 14/02/2024 16:21

I've had this since October 2023, I get 2 or 3 days where I feel better then wham, i'm back to high temperature, shaking, shivering, no appetite, coughing and feeling sick, have other symptoms to but i'm fed up listing them now.

I've had some time off work but like everyone else I work because i need the money and don't get paid full pay unfortunately.

I will be so happy when it finally leaves and then my hay fever will kick in 😆😂

WaystarRoy · 14/02/2024 22:50

I am coming up for 5 days of feeling shivery with a blocked nose and wracking cough. Testing negative for COVID. My coughing fits are going on for ages …. I had flu earlier in the winter. Wondering if it is whooping cough…
