When Is Chest Pain A Worry?

I have had intermittent bouts of a fast heart rate for the past 3 or 4 months where my heart rate will go up to about 160 beats per minute and then go back down to normal. This can last a few seconds or the longest has been about 3 minutes. No rhyme or reason to them, normally happen when I am resting and never had them when walking or exercising.

This morning I have started having an on and off chest pain right in the centre that comes in waves. A really strong, painful cramp that lasts about 7 seconds and then recides. No other symptoms. Blood pressure is a bit high, and my heart rate is 80 when resting this morning.

I have booked a gp appt at 11.30 but my husband wants to call an ambulance as he is very worried. I have a phobia of hospitals so I have to literally be at deaths door to attend.

Could this be a muscle strain? Or should I be taking this more seriously?

If you're having chest pain and you're heart rate is fluctuating like this you need to take it seriously.

Definitely take it seriously, you can't mess around with chest pain. Can someone go to A&E with you for support?
