Sickness bug

Has anyone recently had a godawful bug? It came out of nowhere when I started going off food and not having an appetite and by Thursday I was being violently sick. Unfortunately it's both ends (sorry.. tmi) and I just feel so unwell. I'm drained of all energy, can't keep anything down only very small sips of water but even that can be dodgy.

I'm very lucky that I've reached 31 without ever having something like this so I'm mildly concerned about how long it will last. Really hoping tomorrow's the final day but how long do I go not risking food? I tested negative for Covid just in case but I'm presuming it's a winter norovirus type bug?

Try sucking an ice lolly or ice cubes rather than drinking, sometimes that stays down better. And try and get some sugar in you.

That's such a good tip, thank you!

Friend of mine recently had it, then the kids… lasted a few days.

So sorry OP I live in fear of these! Had one around the same time last year

I hope it’s not too long-lived for you

Sounds like Norovirus that’s the same symptoms I had. I would recommend disinfecting your house as it’s extremely contagious. I was better in about 4 days.

It doesn't normally last much longer than 24hrs of being sick, if it's going past this time and you still can't keep water down, not peeing, temperature then seek medical attention.

Poor you. If its noro it was past quickly. I gave up trying to drink. Amazingly I didn't bring on a dehydration migraine. I think that not moving helped to not over dehydrate. You will feel wiped out for a long time, over a week. Don't try to rush back to normal.

Thanks all. Today's definitely the better day but still can't hold down much food, I can sip lucozade now so I think that's keeping me going. Feel for everyone else who's had this!
