tooth decay on 6 year old

he has pretty bad decay on a molar, the dentist want to just leave it untreated. is this normal?

MY dd had bad decay on a molar at this age. They cleaned it up, packed it with white stuff and kept their fingers crossed it'd come out on it's own, as prt of the natural tooth losing process.

Unfortunately, it didn't and she ended up having to have an extraction.

On the plus side, though, the dentist did say that the reason he wasn't tampering with it was that it could cause more harm than good. That was borne out by my friend's experience with her dd. She had decay, the dentist tried to fill it straight away and she ended up with abcesses.

It sounds strange, but it may well be for the best!

thanks squilly, i've since googled that maybe there best left as they are to stop permanent teeth coming in at a weird angle
