Awful sore throat

I have the most awful sore throat, red raw with white spots on my tonsils. Haven't slept most of the night as it's so sore. Looking for recommendations to help with the pain, as paracetamol isn't touching it. Help!!!

You need to be seen for antibiotics

Going to go to the pharmacy when it opens

Antibiotics, cocodomol, hot tea

Solpadeine and penicillin

Can the pharmacist prescribe antibiotics now with all the changes that have happened? It's so painful!!!

Not sure OP. They definitely dispense them for UTIs

No I don't think they can do antibiotics for throat infections but can do a throat spray to numb it. You'd be better calling 111.

We've just had strep throat here so best to go and get checked by GP. My symptoms were very mild and only went to get checked as my dd had it the week before. They swabbed me and when it came back positive automatically prescribed antibiotics.

I'll be straight on the phone to the docs in the morning. I got a spray from the pharmacy and it's doing nothing whatsoever!!

this is horrendous!!! I'm normally quite good when ill, but paracetamol or the numbing spray isn't doing anything. Every time I swallow I have to brace myself.

Get solpadeine max it’s a strong painkiller

Why did you not call 111 today? It would have been quicker than waiting for GP tomorrow and you'd probably feel better already.

So I phoned the doctors at 8am to be told I have to fill in a form online and the doctor will review it. Now the doctor wants a photo of my tonsils, which you can't really see as it's hard to get your phone right down your throat with the camera on. Now just waiting for a reply. What on earth is happening with doctors now????

I couldn't get anywhere to pick up a prescription on a Sunday as didn't feel well enough to drive (kept feeling dizzy) and DH was at work. Although I should have tried anyway. Didn't sleep again last night and was sat on the sofa sucking an ice lolly at 02:45 🤦🏻‍♀️

Now they've sent through to have a telephone appointment. I would have thought for tonsillitis they had to see you!! FFS.
