Basal carcinoma on face - terrified

I’ve been diagnosed with a BCC on my face and I’m terrified. The consultant is not overly concerned but drew me a picture of the size of the incision needed to remove it. It’s huge and will leave a scar right in the middle of my face, next to my nose.

I was so shocked, I didn’t ask any questions and now I wish I had. Is surgery the only way? Could I ask for another method of removal to minimise the damage?

I know it sounds vain but I have a stressful job, and the thought of dealing with that for months with a huge bandage, stitched up scar etc is throwing me into a complete panic.

I’m struggling with menopause and insomnia at the moment, and this has made things worse. Please share advice if you’ve had this done. Is it worth seeing if it can be done another way?

I had one on my nose removed - there was quite a delay due to covid and it was pretty deep by the time it was done - i felt exactly the same as you OP - v worried about scar and healing - you can see where it has been removed but its really not a major thing - it doesnt bother me day to dat - i do cover up with makeup - healing - a few weeks -

worriedgal I have suspected bcc and becoming very stressed/confused due to trying to navigate the right diagnostics/treatment privately. If you know the name of a consultant who is able to do biopsies/excisions with minimal to no scarring I'd so much appreciate if you could share.
