Dents in nails

Over the past month or so I've noticed some of my finger nails have little dents in them. I've always had pretty good nails but for the past few months they have been breaking quite a lot.
A year ago I went through a period of ill health but surely that's too long ago to be having an effect now?
Any ideas what could be causing it?

Are they vertical along the length (like ridges) or horizontal (across width)?

Horizontal across the nails but not all the way across. Here's a picture but I don't know how clear they will be

I've realised the top of that nail looks really dry too but it isn't really and I oil them regularly

They look like Beau's lines, which often follow a period of ill health. Ridges can also be caused by nibbling/picking at thr nails. Are you otherwise in good health?

I don't pick or nibble my nails at all. I think my health is not as good as I was hoping. I had a big haemorrhage a year ago so I thought by now I should be better but im still very tired even on iron tablets. Guess I just need to try and be healthier.

hi mine are like this! I have had crappy health with bugs and viruses all winter and wonder if it’s related. Never had nail issues before x
