I've got my bloods back but for the life of me I can't work out if my cholesterol is high/low. These are what I've got. Anyway she'd any light please?

Serum HDL. 1.5 mol/l
Serum HDL ratio. 2.3
Serum non cholesterol HDL 2
Serum LDL. 1.5
Serum cholesterol 3.5

Can anyone decipher this lot? 🤔

Your cholesterol is low. And triglycerides are low too.

Your LDL is high so they probably want to bring that down to <1

When they talk about the "total" cholesterol, which figure do they mean? Not happy about going on statins until I'm absolutely sure

3.5

Ask them what your Q risk is? Your risk of cardiovascular disease over the next ten years. Anyone whose risk is over 10% is usually offered statins regardless. Factors which up the risk up are age, BMI, BP, lipids, diabetes, family history, smoking, alcohol etc etc.
Age is obviously the biggest risk factor, so if you are older then it's almost a given you'll be offered statins regardless of your actual cholesterol, BP etc.
