So tired of this lingering cold and sore throat and incessant coughing

Like so many others, I've had a lingering cold with laryngitis, tonsillitis, coughing symptoms for fucking weeks now. I've had two days, then the following week, one day off work. I'm just not getting better. Walk-in centre said it's viral and very kindly recommended self treatments. I have real trouble sleeping because I'm bloody coughing all hours of the night.

I'm not asking for help or debating an issue. I'm just having a moan and looking for sympathy, I suppose!

I had this for about 6 weeks. Gradually improved and then turned a corner at 8 weeks. Still coughing occasionally but much better, 10 weeks on. It’s taken an age. You have all my sympathy.

I think I have this too. My ribs actually hurt now from all the coughing. I was prescribed inhalers by a paramedic over the phone yesterday so hoping they start to help soon as they aren't so far. It's doing my head in cos otherwise I feel fine it's just this bloody cough.

Six to 10 weeks?? Oh, gawd. I'm glad to hear it does come to an end, though.

I also have an inhaler that I've been using, and it brings some relief. I was very fortunate not to have coughed much at all last night.

I work in a school and so many staff members and students have similar symptoms.

Thanks for the sympathy and replies.

I very nearly started an exact same thread. Doctor said it was viral and it can be 8 weeks until
Cough goes. It seems to get better and then comes back worse. I don't feel as unwell as I did at the start but I'm feeling down with it being constant!

Me too. Had it before xmas. Just about got over it early Jan and then about ten days ago started up again. Self-employed so haven't taken a single day off work. Talking to a room full of people all day for work really not helping.

It's bloody awful, isn't it? I feel much better today, but hearing that I might get worse again isn't very reassuring. I think I'll take it easy for a few days still.

Hope you all feel very much better very soon.
