Colposcopy referral

I have had bleeding after sex on and off for about 15 years. Sometimes a cause is found like an ectropian or a little cut on the outside. Sometimes no cause is found at all. I have had my regular smears and have always been normal. I had a coploscopy in 2015 ish which was fine.
Every time this happens I let the GP know and they refer me to gynae. I was seen in September for a new bout of this. I was examined by the gynaecologist then and told that cervix was healthy. No further action and bleeding stopped. It’s now started again and without remaining me the gynae said she was referring me for an urgent colposcopy. She can’t have said that this was urgent any more times and I’m now terrified.

DH keeps saying that not to panic because she decided to refer even before examining me so there is no new information to panic about.

Im now in a health anxiety spiral and have convinced myself I have cervical cancer. Can anyone reassure me? Any experiences that you’ve had like this and it was ok? I’m scared

You were only checked in September. It sounds like the GP is acting like this is the first time it’s happened and you’ve never been looked at before.
