Worried about DS

DS is just 13 and has had a nasty cough since new year. He has also been suffering with a stomach ache every day (says varies from pain level 6-9), dizziness/lightheaded, fatigue and has been sick a few times (I think related to coughing).
I was initially most concerned about the cough but although he still has bad coughing fits now I am more worried about the other symptoms.
He has had blood tests and I can see the results on his NHS account. He has elevated RBCs and haematocrit, and elevated potassium and calcium. The doctor won't be calling to discuss the results until the 12th Feb!
Surely with a still unwell child and some abnormal results I can ask for an earlier appointment for either reassurance or next steps?
So as not to drip feed he is generally healthy but was in NICU after birth due to polycythaemia (elevated RBCs) so this seems a weird coincidence.

I'm really sorry to hear your son is feeling so unwell. I don't have anything helpful to say other than that I would definitely call up and request an appointment (as soon as possible) to discuss the abnormalities in his bloods. It's not fair to leave you worrying any longer and for your son to still be feeling unwell when there may be a solution once they look at the results.

I hope it's nothing serious and he's on the mend soon Flowers

He woke overnight and said his stomach pain was at a 9. He wasn't sure if the pain woke him or the storm outside, but he managed to go back to sleep. I'm wondering about his appendix, but the pain has been consistently at/above belly button for the whole time and isn't moving.

I think you need to see a doctor before 12th Feb.

Phone for an urgent appointment today or use a walk in centre.

We have an appointment this morning

Following a long old day at the GP and then A&E it seems to be Mesenteric adenitis, based on the history of his bad cough and lack of clinical signs for anything else.

I'm glad he's been checked, hopefully he feels better soon.
