UTI question

My DD, age 5 had a UTI a couple of weeks ago, this was confirmed by culture, and treated with antibiotics (initially one that the bug was resistant to, and then by one that the bug was senstitive to). She is much much better than she was, as she was really quite ill, but she still has a sore lower abdomen. This isnt enough to slow her down, but she does mention it unprompted from time to time.

Would it be normal with a UTI to have a bit of pain afterwards, or do I need to take her back to the GP?

This happened to my DD1 (same age). I took her back to the GP. He gave her another set of antibiotics and this cleared the problem.

Make sure she is drinking plenty of fluids and wiping front to back. Cranberry juice is also good in helping to prevent UTI's. DD1 wont touch the stuff but DS and DD2 love it.

IMO I would go back to GP.

Thanks Detta, took her back to the GP, and now on 3rd course of antibiotics! Hope these ones work....
