Zovirax - how to use?

Hi all, got a cold sore for the first time ever!! I’ve got Zovirax and it says to apply 5 x a day but do I wash and clean the area and reapply or do I keep adding onto the previously applied cream in that area?

It doesn’t say in the instructions

The cream is absorbed into the skin, so there won't be anything to wash off.
Just reapply it when you need to., and wash your hands each time.

@Londonnight oh I must be applying way too much then as the cream is sitting on my skin!

Yes that's too much, I used to do the same.

I've changed to patches now much better healing

@pinkfondu i did see the patches. Can they be used even on blisters?
