Lump on breast, mammogram tomorrow

Found a lump on my breast yesterday, so went to the GP today, come away with an appointment for an ultrasound and mammogram tomorrow. Luckily I have health insurance though work (we're not in the UK) so everything's moving quickly.

I'm hoping it's a cyst but can't stop my mind going to the worst case scenario . . .

Anyone else with small breasts had a mammogram? How uncomfortable can I expect it to be?

Hi, I've had a few. It's way less uncomfortable than I expected and the nurse will help you. Good luck OP

And as a reminder, most lumps are benign

Thanks @coloursquare that's reassuring. I know the odds are in my favour but still.

I know, it's really scary when you're going through it. Sending you calming thoughts. I didn't have any pain from the mammogram and the ultrasounds are very straightforward.

Had loads of mammograms (family history) and never found them any worse than uncomfortable.

Take some paracetamol just before you go, I did before my first one as I didn’t know what to expect. I’ve had a few now and it’s like a lot of things: it’s nowhere near as uncomfortable as you think it’ll be.
Hope all is well.

I had that many years ago, was only a cyst. Mammogram uncomfortable but over very quickly.

Good news, it's a cyst 😊Thanks all!

Did mean the mammogram really hurt when they squashed that part of my breast 😂 but I'll take that over the alternative!
