For the last week I've had an incredibly itchy rash on my hip. Nothing is rubbing there, not changed wash powders, soaps etc. When it's at its itchiest it's like lots of bite looking bumps around it. It's really tough to the touch. I've tried some of my son's eczema cream on it as that usually clears up everything but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions? I was hoping it would go away on its own but it doesn't seem to be the case it's not easing up at all.

I've done lots of googling tonight...does anyone think this could be scabies?

Shingles maybe if its just on one side

Legoroses · 20/01/2024 22:28

Looks a bit like eczema. I'd try eumovate for a few days.

Is it ringworm?
Anti fungal cream will work if it is.

Here's another photo. I wondered shingles at first but it's not painful just horrifically itchy!

I don't think ring worm it's in a long oval shape down my hip with lots of little bumps attached and surrounding. My photos aren't getting it that well.
I thought a patch of eczema also at first but the itch and bumps are making me think otherwise now 😔

I would have said shingles

SmurfetteBlue · 20/01/2024 22:45

I've had shingles and it looks very similar. You can get any viral medication for shingles so it may be worth seeing a GP or pharmacist for some advice

SmurfetteBlue · 20/01/2024 22:45

*anti viral

I have exactly the same thing, mine isn’t shingles, it comes up and then lasts days or sometimes weeks, then calms down again. At the moment it is clear but it has been flaring up all year. I think it might be excema.

I had shingles a couple of years ago and it looks very similar. I went to the pharmacist with my rash and they suggested it was shingles, so then I saw a GP who confirmed it. Maybe try a pharmacist tomorrow?

Looks like Idiopathic dermatitis . I get it on inside my wrists.l get topical corticosteroids.

RausageSoul · 20/01/2024 23:21

Is it in a skin fold? It could be a fungal sweat rash?

ChrisPPancake · 20/01/2024 23:21

Could be something fungal maybe? I'd try canesten and see if that helps.

Ok I have almost the same! Had it about 10 days and with a burning itch. I believe it’s Uticaria (hives) but finally spoke to the GP on the phone and sent a photo. She prescribed fexofenadine anti allergy tabs and betnovate cream which have helped the itch hugely but the rash hasn’t gone down, just subsided in a way. Weird. She felt it could be due to the recent month long “cold” virus I’ve had (along w others). If it doesn’t go by Monday I’ll call back. Maybe it is shingles? It’s beyond weird. Let us know if you find out more!

Thequeenofwishfulthinking · 08/03/2024 11:11

I think it’s shingles too. Mine looked the same. It was on my left hip.
