Wait for GP on Monday or 111?

So I’m at home on my own with an 18 month old - DH is working and nobody local who can watch her.

I started getting pains under my rib cage on Tuesday like waves/tightening which moved to the right side of my lower back. It’s not agonising, but I was sick this morning. I’m managing it with painkillers, and I can function (although not as entertaining for my toddler as I usually am!). I think it could be gallstones - or something in that region. It’s just a radiating pain, almost like period cramps.

Is this something that can hold off for a GP Monday or would you be ringing 111? I hesitate as the idea of dragging an 18mo to hospital and waiting for god knows how long is hellish.

I’m being seen at 10am, they think ectopic pregnancy.. let’s hope something less sinister. Thanks for the advice.

Good luck, hope it’s not something serious

Take a tablet or something you can give to your toddler to keep them quiet screen time in the hospital is fantastic for zoning them out

I'm glad you're going, fingers crossed you get seen quickly.

MeinKraft · 20/01/2024 11:31

It does sound like a gallstone on the move. Fingers crossed for you

Thanks everyone, I was seen quickly this morning and no sign of any pregnancy thank god! They think it is gallstones and have given me painkillers and said to go to the gp Monday and be referred for a scan, so will see where I get to but good to know I’m not dying anyway 😂

I have gallstones and they are the worst! But pain exactly as you describe! Get some buscopan, I promise it works!
