Odd bleeding

I hope someone can enlighten me on this...

I had a very odd bleed 3 weeks ago. It only lasted 2 days, started off very brown, then red for a day then brown again. It was 2 weeks after my period. I've had some brown spotting the last couple of days, but no period. I had a baby 16 months ago and am still breastfeeding and have had a few periods but nothing like this since he was born.

I'm also exhausted. I work full time so am usually pretty tired but last night I fell asleep at 7.30 or so and woke up this morning at 7. And I'm STILL tired!

Any thoughts? Should I get this odd bleed investigated?

Implantation bleed?

llareggub · 19/03/2008 13:17

Really? I'd be surprised. I had fertility treatment with my son and it took 2 and a half years to conceive. I also did a pregnancy test earlier this week and it was negative, so I think I can rule that out!

Plenty of people conceive easily after treatment and if you aren't sure when your period is due it could just be too early for the hormone to show up in the stick.

Crikey. That might explain why I'm so tearful at the moment. I worked out of work on Wednesday in tears.

Hmm.

The signs are there.

I hope it is time.

llareggub · 19/03/2008 13:28

More like shocked! Will try not to get hopes up though...

Work out your dates straight away!!!!

llareggub · 19/03/2008 14:12

Oh, I don't have a clue to be honest...

think!!!

llareggub · 19/03/2008 14:23

I really don't have a clue. Let's see, weird bleed was 3 weeks ago and I think my period was 2 weeks before then....will hunt out diary. The test I did on Sunday was negative anyway.

Go and do it now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

llareggub · 19/03/2008 16:20

I have to go out and buy one first! Although am tempted to wait because I truly believe I am not pregnant...we have only been trying a few months. If there is anyone that can think of what my symptoms might be, I'd be glad to hear it!

Don't want to get your hopes up but does sound like early pregnancy.

Could just be hormonal changes/cycle getting back to normal.

Go and buy that test.

MioMao · 19/03/2008 16:30

yes definitely get yourself another pregnancy test!

If you get any more brown spotting, or if you get any pain in your abdomen, even just a nagging feeling, see your doctor ASAP as it might possibly be an ectopic pregnancy. They can do blood tests and/or an ultrasound scan to rule it out. I don't want to be a scaremonger, but it is something to be aware of - and the earlier it is treated the better.

llareggub · 19/03/2008 16:36

DH has been sent out to buy another test. I have had more brown spotting and I am shattered! Will bear in mind the advice regarding the ectopic pregnancy but I haven't had any tummy pains, just an achy back yesterday.

I'm convincing myself now, I really must stop.

Fingers crossed!

Keep us posted.

MioMao · 19/03/2008 16:57

Just thinking about this - if I were you I would go and see your GP, regardless of the result of pg test. Get yourself checked out, if only to get to the bottom of why you are feeling so tired.

fingers crossed for you

llareggub · 19/03/2008 17:03

Thanks MiaMoa, I've been thinking the same thing. I had vitamin B12 deficiency when I was pregnant and had to have an injection to boost my B12 levels. I felt exhausted before the injection and super-energized afterwards. This feels similar.

I've been working hard lately and am now on hols so maybe the break is what I need.

If there is anyone reading this...

I've just done the test and it is negative but as I've no idea about dates etc I guess it is still a possibility.

I will make an appointment with the GP I think, but will try another early night first!

Had to go and do birthday things.

Sorry it was negative. Wait a few days and do another test if you don't start to feel better.

MioMao · 19/03/2008 20:12

sorry to hear it was negative - I have been trying for a baby for a while, and know that sinking feeling all too well.

do go and see your GP - the brown spotting is a bit odd, so you should get yourself checked out.

hope you feel better soon.

rosybud · 19/03/2008 21:12

Sorry to hear it wasn't the result you hoped.

Hope you feel better soon.

llareggub · 19/03/2008 21:30

Aw, thanks all. I am trying very hard not to think too much about getting pregnant because of the difficulties last time. I count my blessings because I have my lovely son and if he ends up being my only child, then so be it.

llareggub · 23/03/2008 23:53

Well, it is now Sunday and I've had a little more brown blood but the last pregnancy test on Friday was still negative. I had horrible cramps Friday night and now to cap it all off I have a heavy cold. Ah well!

I think I will go along to the doctors this week. I'm still breastfeeding, do you think it might be related to that?

OP posts:
llareggub · 24/03/2008 16:54

Please, please someone tell me what it might be. I have googled all sorts of things...
