Gum abscess burst?

DD has developed a gun abscess after a filling a few weeks ago. She has been on a course of antibiotics for the last week but the lump is still large and tonight it burst. lots of blood and pus everywhere … She’s not in much pain but her face is swollen and I am worried we might need to get her seen?

I called 111 earlier and they said she needed a call back within 2 hours. That was 4 hours ago. I chased it after 2 hours as advised on the original call but we’ve still not heard. Does anyone know if this does need urgent attention please?

If it has burst she will probably feel better as the painful pressure will have gone. Salt water rinse and wait for the call.

salt water rinse with warm water and spit it out, rinse and repeat or mouthwash - corsydyl (spelling anyone?) if you happen to have any. Spit it out!

if no call back, then try the dentist in the morning. Bet she’s feeling loads better?
