What fresh hell is THIS???

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 14:41

I appear to have developed a cyst on the side of my bikini line.

The bastard thing hurts like hell and is about the size of a 10p coin (not putting this in sporner corner as
a) at the moment there's nowt to come of it and
b) I'm not putting pictures of my Fanny on the interwebs.

Any advice on how to make it stop hurting (and hopefully to get it to piss off)?

Hot cloth to draw it out and some magnesium sulphate over night

NewyearNC · 19/01/2024 14:44

Suggest warm compress a few times a day for a few days. You may get some pus out of it.
Also - it is poss related to ingrown hair or shaving.
hope you get it sorted :)

legalseagull · 19/01/2024 14:45

Hot bath then stick a needle in it and watch it blow (sporner, sorry!)

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 14:53

Does the chemist sell magnesium sulphate?

OP posts:
WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 14:53

And there'll be no needles Grin

If it's a Bartholin's gland cyst you need to see a Dr. Seriously. Hope you're OK OP.

Kebba · 19/01/2024 15:21

You're sure it's a cyst not a boil? A boil you can just leave to do it's thing, it will eventually burst (sorry) or retreat. Just be very clean down there in general, and if you get more, you can use dilute hibiscrub as a wash as sometimes they can be caused by a certain bacteria (which we all have but which can sometimes cause issues).

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 15:31

I'm unsure if it's a boil, bog standard cyst or Bartholins cyst to be honest.

It feels hot and a bit squidgy underneath (kind of like you can move the contents around a bit Envy) but you can't see it if you looked at the area - it's not like a spot etc.

I've had ingrowing hairs before which have been just as uncomfortable but never quite as big as this mutha....

Yes it does. Ask at the counter if you don't see it on the shelf

Good. I wasn't sure as you'd mentioned not posting fanny pix. Bartholin's can be dangerous.

Hope you get whatever it is sorted.

I've ordered some paste from Amazon as my local Boots is out of stock.

God bless Prime. Have treated myself to a book as well to cheer myself up (and take my mind off the growling angry lump in my undercrackers)

Iv had these get in a hot bath as long as your not pregnant and clean the area then just sit for 15 min then try give it a pop if nothing do the same tomorrow it will eventually pop x

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 15:59

I tried a bath last night with some magnesium bath salts, however the bath and bathroom were cold enough to take the heat out of the bath water pretty much instantly!!

I'll try a flannel and some really hot water tonight

I’ve had a boil thing there before, went down eventually! Think it was from an ingrowing hair - was v red and inflamed! I think a cyst would be more skin colour.

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 18:40

This thing isn't red, if you glanced at the area you wouldn't spot it!

OP posts:
headcheffer · 19/01/2024 18:46

Honestly just leave it to do its thing, poke at it and you'll anger it and it'll get really sore. Have a hot bath every night with Epsom salt to help reduce the inflammation and let that be it.

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 19:00

I've got no desire to poke at it believe me, it hurts enough as it is!!!

Will try magnesium sulphate paste and hot flannels

Had one of those years ago, turned out to be an ingrown hair thing !

WellThisIsFun1 · 19/01/2024 19:16

It's crazy, it hurts when I sit down, it hurts when I get up, it hurts when I walk.

It just hurts. Stupid thing.....

@WellThisIsFun1 Did you get this sorted? I have a similar problem and it's freaking me out! I'd really appreciate any advice.

ImWearingPantaloons · 02/06/2024 20:38

Hi @Bridget85 yes I got it sorted with an appointment with a prescribing nurse, and a weeks worth of very strong antibiotics.

I will never take Fanny comfort for granted again. Hope you get yours sorted soon

FredaFox · 02/06/2024 20:48

I had one from a shaving cut, grew to the size of an egg, I'd been fobbed off by my gp a day or so earlier
Was going to g to go back when I finally managed to pierce it
The power of spray
Instant relief 😂

Bridget85 · 02/06/2024 21:25

Thanks everyone. Mine is far smaller just like a hard pea under the skin but in the same area on the bikini line. @ImWearingPantaloons I take it yours was some sort of infection? I had treatment for BV just over a month ago but I have no idea if the two things are related..

ImWearingPantaloons · 03/06/2024 06:02

@Bridget85 yes mine was a lovely abscess. It's left a tiny little lump behind but I can live with that compared to what was there
