6 week old - straining

Hi, my 6 week old DS keeps really straining, he goes bright red and kicks his legs out and often cries or grumbles when doing it (ie, he doesn't seem to be doing it for fun as suggested by HV ).

It often coincides with him needing a feed eg when he wakes from a sleep. He seems tho not to be constipated as such having approx 7 dirty nappies a day.

He really holds on to his wind despite Infacol and lots of attempted winding, do you think it's related?

Any advise or should i go see GP before our 8 week check?

Thanks

Hi blondie, sorry its nothing I recognise, but if it is something that is worrying you and hv is no help dont worry about asking gp, or the practice nurse, they will be understanding of your worries.

You'll probably be inundated in a mo by knowledgeable mn's so there is help coming dont worry. Good luck,

Sounds like colic. Both me and my friend with same-aged babies went through it. Mine was ff and hers bf, btw. In my ds's case, we used colief and it worked a treat. Not so good with bf - a bit of a fiddle. It does stop around 12 wks, but is horrid to see them so uncomfortable. My hv said it's a bit like me having ibs pain. poor wee things. Lots of winding and cuddles is always good though.
