Target rash......

My 14 month DS2 has developed a couple of patches of a rash which is a red circle with a red dot in the middle. Only 2 atm but they are the size of an old 50p piece (the bigger ones). My first reaction was that he had ringworm but now I'm wondering if it could be Lymes disease (the one commonly transferred by ticks). I'm taking him to the doc tomorrow (we are in NZ) but what do you guys think?

does it look like this?

or this?

The first one is ringworm, the second is lymes disease.

From what you describe, it sounds more like lymes disease.

Good luck

Oooh def the second one!! But I haven't noticed any ticks on him? We do however live on a farm LOL so I know they're around.

This is a reaction to a tick bite. Not all ticks though carry the bacterium that causes Lyme Disease but your son needs to see a doctor. Antibiotics are often used as a treatment.

Symptoms like the rash can appear two to three weeks after the initial bite.

Well doctor said it wasn't ringworm OR lyme disease but he doesn't know what it is. How helpful was that LOL
