Hello,

im having a flexible signoidoscopy on Wednesday and im nervous!

I opted for no sedation and just has and air due to childcare restrictions I cant afford to be sedated.

how was your experience? Did it really hurt? Im so nervous!

also tips for bowel prep as I struggle with drinks like that! It said somewhere about having it cold, do you make it up in the morning and leave in the fridge?

also can you mix anything with it?

any tips!!

@Mumssupportingmums I'm due one in a couple of weeks too so am unsure what the procedure is like.

However, I had a CT Colonography done in November with the same prep plus a contrast.

The prep I had is Moviprep and it is the same again for the Flexible Sigmoidoscopy. It 'claims' to be Lemon and Lime flavour (more like Lemon and Lies 🤣).

Anyway, I am on a forum for Diverticular Disease where people have these done all the time. There was lots of advice there but what I chose was to make up the prep using the sports bottles of still MacB flavoured water which I had chilled at first. Then chilled it in a jug a bit longer and filled the 500ml bottles twice with each lot of prep (so 2 litres in total). I also chased it down with more chilled flavoured water, so managed to get over 4 litres in.

Although not very pleasant, it was nowhere near as bad as I thought. I have anxiety around swallowing and didn't think I'd manage to swallow the fluids but I did.

I'm sure you'll manage it fine too,x
