Yes

Scarletttulips · 14/01/2024 12:37

Yes it could be.

You need a to vitals but there’s a short window to get them.

This started with a few small spots a week ago. Pain started 2 days ago.

I think so.

Edited because your later post means mine wasn’t helpful.

MrsVeryTired · 14/01/2024 12:38

Yes, get to GP/pharmacist asap as anti virals taken at the beginning can greatly reduce how badly you get it.

LaviniasBigBloomers · 14/01/2024 12:39

Likely. That's where I got it last time, I thought it was my bra rubbing! So painful. I'd call 111 to see if you can get antivirals today - they do help but it's a really small window to take them in.

@Redlarge No, it’s still worth getting some medical advice, and some strong painkillers.

SundaeChild · 14/01/2024 12:43

No, don’t ride it out. You need antivirals and painkillers prescribed for neuropathic pain, OP. Seek a diagnosis asap. Treat rash with calamine lotion chilled in the fridge.
It’s not nice. Sending kind thoughts. x

Co-codamol won’t touch it ime. Better to have Pregabalin.
Antiviral is aciclovir.

Ergh i rang 111 they told me to go to Boots for a consultation. I did, pharmacist said they don't treat shingles so go to the walk in urgent care.
I did, they said go to another walk in as we have too many very unwell people and you arent one of them. So im back home and going to try my GP in the morning. Feel like utter shit.

That’s ridiculous. Hope you managed this morning to book an appointment with the GP.

Fraaahnces · 15/01/2024 11:27

You poor thing! It looks very much like shingles and that is a very common (and sensitive/intrusive)
nerve pathway, so I would assume that’s what it is. I would take both ibuprofen and paracetamol for pain and inflammation. You can put covered ice packs on the area to soothe the nerve pain. I hope you are seen by a GP in the morning. I have had shingles and have had patients with it. I hope you can get a script for the antiviral meds.
