What is this thigh pain?

I had a baby four years ago. I suffered SPD and what I thought was sciatica during the end of the pregnancy which was immediately relieved when I had him (he was breech and delivered by a section).

however the “sciatic” pain still crops up if I stand for too long (I know my posture isn’t great). I get an achey hip on my left side, pain that feels like nerve pain down the front of my thigh and a tight glute muscle in my left bum cheek and tight calf muscle.

i was quite worried about it for a while as it keeps occurring, but GP wasn’t overly concerned just said maybe my pelvis moved during pregnancy and has irritated the nerve and my habit of leaning against the kitchen counter and scrolling my phone etc irritates it and causes it to flare up.

i also sit on the floor a lot to play with DS and tend to cross my legs or kneel which doesn’t seem to help!has anyone had anything like this?

a sciatic yoga workout helps when the pain is in my hip and bum but nothing seems to stop the thigh pain when it starts. It’s like a flashing pain if that makes sense. Sort of like toothache but down the front of my thigh.

im really hoping someone can recommend somw
stretches or something that helped them!

I’d suggest you see a physio.

Sorry I should have mentioned I’ve seen one and they gave me some exercises to do which help for a bit immediately after I’ve done them but it doesn’t last long

my friend suggested an osteo but I think it might be coming from my calf muscle as if that gets massaged I get immediate relief in my thigh… but again doesn’t last

Oh I get this too and can only describe it as toothache in my thigh! It started when I was pregnant with DC4 6 years ago, it isn’t as frequent now but it’s a horrible pain and sorry I haven’t found an answer for it. Haven’t seen a GP to be fair as it’s just ‘annoying’ it doesn’t impair me at all.

I suffered badly from SPD. I had such persistent pain in my hips and pelvis afterwards, I had an x ray (which was normal) because I wondered whether there wad something wrong with my hip joints.

I now realise that the pain was all muscular. Tight glutes, hamstrings, quads… all of the main muscles below the waist, basically! I started doing Pilates, which helped a lot. And if I get lazy with doing stretches, the aches and pains come back.

I bet if you set aside some time each day for stretches, you’d really feel a difference.

I get this. It's better when I exercise, just think it's a tight muscle. Really odd pain, your description of toothache is actually spot on
