Noro?

Hi
Partner in London alone. I'm up north. He seems to have contracted something. Possible bug? Noro? Food poisoning? I don't know. He's been having very watery diahrhea since 1130pm yesterday night. Every 20/25 minutes. Severe cramps followed by diahrhea that happens every 20ish minutes.
Hes been having dioralyte and water. Had one dry toast. Obviously feels very weak and clammy/cold etc.
If its like a bug- I know lots going around- how long does it last? It's showing no signs of easing up. I'm getting worried especially as he's alone.
Any advice or tips appreciated!
Thank you x

I suffered a whole week of that recently.
such painful cramps I was actually howling in pain, and pure liquid diarrhoea. I have never been so ill for so long before. I lost so much weight it actually took nearly a month to regain it. Hideous. Wasn’t noro as no one else got sick. Rehydration sachets, dry crackers/toast and pray it ends soon are my only tips.

Thank you. Was is constant every 20 minutes? I'm not sure at what point I should be really worried re dehydration etc because he's in the loo 15/20 mins.

Thank you so much for the tips!

It was for the first few days, and nights!
It did get less frequent once there was little left in me, but then as soon as I did eat/drink it was going straight through.
If he’s taking rehydration sachets and drinking plenty, is still urinating and it isn’t too dark you shouldn’t be too worried.

Thank you so so much! I think I'd be ok if someone was there but because he's alone I got worried. Really appreciate the advice x

Has he improved at all?

Butterfly008 · 12/01/2024 05:11

A little. The time between has increased but he's still going to the loo. More every 2hrs rather than 20 mins.
What a horrible thing!
Thank you for checking back in xx

Experience of that big here lately too.

DD (13 years) had it about 8 days. First three days were every 20 mins day and night, then calmed down a bit but still going very often. She didn't stop eating (no chance!) which may have prolonged it 🤷‍♀️

One parent caught it. Used Imodium to control it a bit. Similar length of time though, as when the Imodium wore off the toilet trips started again until more Imodium.

Others in the house didn't catch it. Doesn't seem to be very contagious thankfully.

That’s kind of how it went with me tbh. Hopefully he improves further over the weekend op.

Sounds like a pretty normal stomach bug (they are nasty). He needs to keep sipping water to rehydrate and wait for it to pass.

Butterfly008 · 12/01/2024 10:53

Thanks guys. I thought these things are a 24 ish hour thing. I don't think I was expecting it to go beyond 48hours and still going! I hope everyone else is doing OK thats caught it! Love to you all x
