Steroid injection for Morton's Neuroma

Has anyone had this? I'm just deciding whether to go ahead with a steroid injection as I'm told it's very painful!

I've had the steroid injection and they numb the area first.
I read about the the pain and not being able to walk for a day or so.

I was fine after the injection just a little tender where the needle went in and some nice colourful bruising.

I’ve had it. It was fine, no issues and I could walk on it afterwards. Wasn’t painful at all

My daughter had this, no problems except that she wasn't allowed to drive immediately after, so I took her to and from her appointments.

Did any of you get any relief from the steroid injection? If so, how long for?

farnworth · 08/09/2024 22:55

I too could walk on it (and not drive that day) but felt that it didn’t provide pain relief beyond a few weeks.
In the end orthotics helped - really good inserts and only wearing certain trainers.

Infracat · 10/09/2024 14:27

@farnworth which shoes do you wear?

Itsamumslife2024 · 10/09/2024 14:30

Orthotics are key op. I’m not talking inserts you pick up from a shoe shop or chemist but custom made ones from a podiatrist. That and comfortable supportive shoes. The podiatrist will advise. I use walking shoes at all times unless I’m attending a client meeting.

I tested so many. In the end New Balance 997 have been consistently the most comfortable with my inserts and foot shape. I buy1.5 sizes bigger than my shoe size to fit the inserts in. My podiatrist told me the key things I needed in trainers.
