Lump on roof of mouth

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 18:14

This random lump/bump appeared out of no where 4 days ago, it’s hard and smooth and only painful if I apply pressure on it with my fingers. Not looking for a diagnoses just curious to see if anyones had anything similar that went away or turned out to be nothing?? I’ve got really bad health anxiety and can’t stop thinking it’s some sort of mouth cancer

I get something that looks like this, and it's a hard ulcer, it always goes after a few days. Hope yours does too

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 19:36

This makes me feel abit better! Currently on day 4 and still no sign of it going yet fingers crossed

Ouch 😖 Perhaps get it checked if it's still there in a few days. I feel your pain!

CharlotteStreetW1 · 09/01/2024 19:49

Yes, I've had a couple. I give them a week to go and if they don't, I'd go to the doctor. Haven't been to the doctor yet.

BUT that's just me.

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 19:54

im feeling so anxious as I don’t know anyone else who’s had a lump/bump that looks like mine!

Do you have toothache or dental pain? I once had a lump in roof of mouth and it was connected to toothache. I needed a root canal procedure and it went. Get it checked by your doctor/dentist.

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 20:11

No toothache or pain at all only if I press on the lump.. went to the doctor today who said to go back if it’s still there in 10 days so I’m hoping it goes 🤞🏽

I get these all the time and have done my whole life (late 30s now). They come and go - sometimes when I'm ill with a virus, but also just seemingly random. They look exactly lile yours, and only hurt when pressed as well. Sometimes they even feel a bit hot. I've never asked a doctor about them, I think coz I've always had them I just thought they were one of those things people get!

BadgerMushroom20 · 09/01/2024 20:18

I had a lump on the roof of my mouth like this a few years ago. The dentist x-rayed and found it to be a back up of pulp from my two front teeth where I had injured and chipped them in childhood. Apparently the internal damage can go unnoticed for many years beforehand. Anyway long story short I had a root canal procedure which sorted it.

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 20:20

This makes me feel at ease:) this is actually my first time having one so I’m worried, did yours go away on their own and if so how long did it take??

Just to also say that you don't always get toothache/pain if it is infection needing root canal, mine caused no pain at all, just the lump

Raaraayouareanoisy · 09/01/2024 20:25

I had one of these, it was to do with my salvia glands in my mouth. Mine would pop and fill back up again and again. I eventually got it cut out at the dental hospital

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 20:28

Mine doesn’t seem to be soft or filled with fluid it’s hard and firm

Whataretheodds · 09/01/2024 20:32

I had one, it went within a week.

Maddy4589 · 09/01/2024 20:32

Just to add by the picture it looks like it’s full of fluid but it’s not it’s firm and hard

@Maddy4589 did it go? I've got one that has come up in the last few days. I do have a cough and cold

Dayshaxoxo · 23/08/2024 02:01

hi! So I have the same thing and honestly exactly how you described it is exactly how mines feels it just popped up out of nowhere and I feel like doctors. Tell us as soon as you find a bump. It’s like cancer and I got so scared. I went to the doctors the same day and they gave me some antibiotics. I do see it going down a little bit. But that’s just me it could be from trauma, eating hot hot food many other things

luminousloops · 25/08/2024 00:01

I used to suffer health anxiety. Since overcoming that, at least a decade ago, I have learned to face things pragmatically.
Stats are your friend.
It is highly unlikely to be cancer since the lump is sudden and painful.
I had an ulcer on my palette which was hard as stone, it inflamed the surrounding area like in the photo above. It was incredibly painful to press on, and felt highly suspicious to me. If you haven't had this before, it would most certainly upset an anxious mind.

It gradually went away after about a week.
Best to either see the doc to get peace of mind, to shorten the panic cycle, or find a way to educate yourself about oral health. I found that staunchly investigating the reality of health issues helped to mitigate panic. It is difficult to do, due to the terror of information, but ultimately empowers you.

Most cancerous lesions in the mouth do not suddenly appear and hurt like a blind boil. They are also not healthily pink either.

SourPatch1220 · 01/01/2025 21:53

Did it ever go away for you? I have one literally exactly looks the same...same spot and everything right now. It just came outta nowhere a couple of weeks ago and still hasn't gone away. I am literally freaking out. I Have bad health anxiety too and I'm getting older and literally every bad scenario it could be is all I can think of right now!! 😫
