Liver shrinking diet

Has anyone followed a liver shrinkage diet pre surgery? Mine is prior to gallbladder surgery not bariatric as I think it’s often used for.

I’m on day one and soooo hungry!

Hi I did it for bariatric surgery. Mine was the milk diet, is yours milk or food?

@afaloren I’m doing slim fast as no way in could cope with just milk! How did you cope with the hunger?

@SurreyisSunny I had 4 pints of milk every day, plus broth and sugar free jelly in the evenings. I drank a lot of water to try and stay full! I was very motivated to do it was my surgeon warned me that if I didn’t stick to it and my liver didn’t shrink he would just sew me up without doing the surgery. It wasn’t my favourite two weeks ever but compared to recovery from the surgery it was a doddle!

Do you need it for gallbladder surgery?

I just turned up and they did it, no suggestions of following any diet.

Have they actually told you to do it? Pretty sure none of our surgeons routinely advise this for a routine gallbladder.

How did you get on with the diet? I've been told to do it for my gallbladder surgery and I'm dreading it.

@froomeonthebroom i managed to do for 2 weeks. I had 4 slimfast a day. It was awful. I did lose 13 pounds though!!

I so looked forward to my first meal after surgery… but then couldn’t eat it!!
