I've got terible toothache! I've swilled so much whiskey that I feel a bit piddled.

sorry to hear you're in pain, (ex dental nurse here!) if you are registered with a dentist, phone up the surgery, sometimes they have out of hours help. Ibuprofen helps and you can alternate between paracetamol and ibuprofen every 2 hours. don't put anything warm over the tooth, cold works better so if you can tolerate it swill some icy water over the area. oil of cloves might help if you've got any as might rubbing some toothpaste over the area but the wisest thing to do would be to phone your surgery or the NHS dental helpline, good luck

mamamelly · 17/03/2008 23:20

clove oil is the best. but only a small amount, too much can actually aggravate it. sorry hope you can get an appointment soon!

Someone on here once said that a combination of ibuprofen and paracetamol (ONE of each!) is a good mix for dental pain. I have used it a couple of times while waiting for a filling to be done and it worked like a charm.

Actually, I'm sure I have posted the Mumsnet equivalent of Mogadon many, many times. Did you ever see my thread about courgettes? Ah, happy memories.
