Eye pressure/pain

Just a query really to see if anyone thinks this needs looking at.
Ds is 19. Today he suddenly developed pain in one eye. He said it felt like an ache. Nothing to see about from possibly a little bloodshot but I'm not sure if that's because he had rubbed it to try and relieve the pain.
He came downstairs for painkillers and he said it was really hurting. It felt like a pressure behind one eye.
Painkillers didn't shift it so I suggested he tried to lay down with his eyes closed as it could be some sort of migraine. By now it was hurting into his ear, neck and cheek.
After about 15 minutes lying down he came downstairs and said he'd been lying with his eyes shut when he suddenly got a funny feeling in his nose. He thought he was going to have a nosebleed but he said nose sort of made a fizzing noise and sensation and all the pain and pressure disappeared.
He was a bit freaked out by it but now isn't bothered in the slightest.
It's all a bit strange and I'm now left wondering if he should get a dr or optician appointment just to be on the safe side. He really was in an awful lot of pain.
He of course thinks I'm over reacting and it's fine now it's gone.

Are his wisdom teeth up yet?

Sounds like it could be his sinus's, if he presses on either side of his nose just below his eyes across the top of his cheekbones does that feel weird or painful?

There are specific sinus relief tablets like Sudafed that can be helpful, obviously you need to make sure there are no reasons he shouldn't have them like other medications or health problems but they are available in most supermarkets and chemists.

Get him to see an optician if he’s having eye issues to rule anything out

I'm an optician, that does sound like a sinus issue. High pressure in the actual eye doesn't manifest like that.

I wouldn't do anything unless it happens again (then go to the GP).
